We have enough People to start our first room! I feel excited and nervous and overwhelmed, and so many other things. Becoming is such a strange process, especially when you are arriving at it after forty years of indoctrination in “doing” as a destination. I saw a TikTok recently where a Black woman was remarking on how she freed herself from doing as destination by learning to be imperfect and proud at the same time, and that feels like what this is. I am learning, little by little, to present my ideas, my creations, my structures, knowing that they are not perfect and knowing that they are not “done.” They never will be. And I am so proud of myself. And us. For bringing Giovanni’s Room to fruition. See you in The First Room!
